Another year draws to an end and as we approach the festive season we take a moment to revel in the success of the past 12 months as well as look forward with great excitement and expectation to 2018. It has been one of our most active years and I would like to offer my thanks for all the contributions that everyone has made to our success this year.
Our members, board committee, sponsors and special guests over the year who have given up their time to attend, participate and volunteer to our council and have helped to raise the profile and build a better and stronger organisation, I extend my sincerest gratitude and hope that this commitment to our council continues next year.
This past year we saw a renewed focus and passion for the WA - Korean relationships. The AKBCWA over the past year was proud to have delivered a full calendar of events that included corporate lunches with Finance Minister Mathias Cormann and WA Labor Minister Bill Johnston, a special leaders dinner with former Korean PM Dr. Han Seung-Soo, collaborations with the Perth USA Asia Centre and Asialink to deliver seminars on the Korean election and North Korean issues and finally business networking events such as our Christmas Sundowner and Young Australian - Korean professionals networking function.
We have had success in 2017 but 2018 promises to be an even bigger year for our council as we seek to further strengthen an already well established relationship between WA and South Korea; grow memberships, host high-level events and provide services to our members.
Christmas is a time for reflection and a rejuvenation of hope for the future. May we always be ever mindful of the spirit of caring, sharing, love and generosity of the Christmas season. I want to take this opportunity to wish all of our members and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
Chairman, Australia Korea Business Council of WA
