On Thursday 19 September 2019, Australia Korea Business Council Western Australia (AKBCWA) held its 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Heritage building - Old Perth Boys’ School - Curtin University. The AGM gave AKBCWA members the chance to celebrate yet another busy and productive year.
In just 12 months, our members responded to new opportunities and challenges while the AKBCWA focused on evolving to better support the needs of the Australia-Korea business community in Western Australia. The AKBCWA organised in excess of eight events where members were able to network, develop business opportunities, and understand Korean market environments.
At the event, as AKBCWA Chairman Young Yu stepped down from the position after four years. He took this opportunity to express his sincere appreciation to all members and board directors for the support and guidance provided during his term. He said, “It has been a great honour to represent the AKBCWA during the important time of the establishment of Asian Engagement portfolio within the WA Government. I am satisfied that Korea will continue to be a very significant partner for WA in the future”.
At the end of the AGM, five members were elected to the Board. AKBCWA would like to warmly welcome Brian Evans, Curtin University; Don Kim, DLA Piper; Jo Elfving-Hwang, UWA; Mi Mo, Woodside; and Young Yu, MGM O'Connor Corporate Advisory. Also, AKBCWA is happy to announce that it enormously agreed to give Mr Peter Grant the first AKBCWA honorary life membership. Mr Peter Grant is the founder of AKBCWA, and he made a great effort to connect between WA-Korea.
