Christmas is a time to appreciate all of the wonderful people and places around us. It is a time to reflect on the year that has gone by. I would like to thank all of our members, sponsors and board members for their valuable support, as well as, everyone who volunteered to make 2019 another year to remember. Our council’s major focus is to serve our members, and we believe in providing a service to help you network, develop opportunities, and learn more about the Australian-Korean market.
The Australia Korea Business Council of WA has been creating new networking and promotional opportunities to assist our member’s business succeed and grow. This includes space to advertise on the AKBCWA website, business referrals and other networking opportunities. Other great events such as the Korea business round table sessions allowed our members and other businesses to gain visibility and in-sight of market trends.
During the past 12 months, the Australia Korea Business Council of WA successfully held number of events. The highlights from our events calendar included:
AKBCWA Leaders Dinner with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Australia, His Excellency Mr Baek-Soon Lee and the Hon Peter Tinley MLA, Minister for Housing; Veterans Issues; Youth; Asian Engagement
Asia Business Series - Korea Business Roundtable: this event hosted by the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Commonwealth of Australia, the City of Perth and Australia Korea Business Council Western Australia (AKBCWA).
AKBCWA EOFY Sundowner in collaboration with Mello House: Not only did we celebrate the end of the financial year with food, drinks along with casual networking, but we also enjoyed a performance by Dr Jocelyn Clark (Gayageum) and Ms Choi Jinsook (Pansori) which provided members with a unique experience of Korean traditional music.

As the newly elected Chairman of AKBCWA, I am excited to work with our members, board and WA Government to develop AKBCWA’s strategic plan that will help us build a sustainable, growing, and thriving business council.
