COVID - 19 (Novel Coronavirus) - Restrictions on travelling to Korea

March 6, 2020

COVID-19: Travel Restrictions Update

In response to evidence of a heightened risk of sustained local transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Republic of Korea (ROK), the Australian Government has placed an entry ban on foreign nationals travelling from the ROK from 9pm tonight Australian Eastern Time (5 March). This decision will be reviewed in seven days.

Australian citizens, permanent residents and their immediate family members (spouses, legal guardians and dependants) will still be able to enter Australia. They will be required to self-isolate for 14 days on their return to Australia from the ROK.

In addition, the Government has agreed to raise the travel advice for the ROK to ‘reconsider your need to travel’. The Government has also decided to raise the advice level for Daegu to ‘do not travel’.
