On Thursday 17 September 2020, Australia Korea Business Council Western Australia (AKBCWA) held its 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Heritage building - Old Perth Boys’ School - Curtin University. The AGM gave AKBCWA members the chance to celebrate yet another busy and challenging year.
In 2019-2020, our members responded to new opportunities and challenges of COVID-19 pandemic while the AKBCWA focused on evolving to better support the needs of the Australia-Korea business community in Western Australia, such as: A founding member of the Asia Business Council of WA; Actively participating in Minister Peter Tinley’s Asian Engagement Strategy; Launching of the AKBCWA Strategic Plan 2020-2030; As we face the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19, the AKBCWA is trying to support the immediate impact to enable business continuity, while assisting our community as a whole; Building a strategic reciprocal partnership with Australian Chamber of Commerce Korea; Managing an NFP during COVID-19; Assisted UWA to win $1.2m funding for the Korea Research Centre; Hosting three events where members were able to develop business opportunities, network, and understand Korean market environments.
During the AGM, two members were elected to the Board. AKBCWA would like to warmly welcome Tommy Shin, CEO, Lateral Capital Ventures, Professor Gordon Flake, CEO, Perth USAsia.
